On Saturday, March 9, 2013, ODK, in partnership with MOVE, co-hosted Fresh Direction, a unique leadership conference, focusing on servant leadership, created specifically for first year students.

The students opened their day with a keynote speech by Associate Dean of Students and Director of Diversity Programs, Dean Stephanie Ray. Her impassioned speech motivated the attendees to start an open conversation on leadership at Tech and examine their role in shaping the future of our campus.

The freshmen attended group workshops on leadership styles led by Omicron Delta Kappa members. These workshops served to start a compelling conversation about what leadership looks like in college versus high school, and how to find and adapt to their personal leadership style.

The last part of the day was organized by MOVE, Georgia Tech's umbrella organization for community service opportunities, which led the group in several service projects to support key local initiatives. The freshmen prepared food packages for donation, folded origami pieces for hospitalized children, and created greeting cards congratulating Teach For America high school graduates on their hard work.

The 2013 Fresh Direction was an incredible success and ODK expects great things from this group of freshmen in the future.
